Self-care is the best gift any mom can give to themselves.
“I understand that living with children with autism, you know that’s gonna add an extra layer of stress and demand on a parent…what I always suggest is and I do this myself is, build in small steps throughout your day, and it may not look the way you want it to. I think we kinda get bombarded with a lot of images of having a wonderful home yoga practice and then decluttering. I’m doing all these things and it looks really good, like in a magazine. It doesn’t have to. Just doing little bits as you can throughout your day.” Tammy Thielman.
Mother’s Day is coming up! We’re glad to have Tammy Thielman, Social Worker and Counselor, to talk about self-care for moms of special-needs children. She also provides us with some insights on Equine and Animal Therapy, which she practices on her farm located in Salmon Arm, BC.
