Prevention Tips and Best Practices for COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

The Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is mainly spread person-to-person by infected people who cough or sneeze. There’s no vaccine yet, so the best way you can avoid getting sick is by avoiding the virus in the first place. Here’s some tips and best practices on how to avoid coronavirus and getting sick. These are also great tips for flu and cold prevention.

Clean your hands often, especially after being in public, blowing your nose, coughing, sneezing, and before you eat. Use soap and water and wash your hands for at least 20 seconds. If soap is not available, use hand sanitizer that’s at least 60% alcohol.

Don’t touch your face! And if you do touch your face, wash your hands. Avoid close contact with people. Avoid crowded places and try to keep at least 6 feet of space between you and others. If you’re sick, stay home!

Cover your coughs and sneezes with either a tissue or your elbow. Throw away used tissues and wash your hands immediately.

Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces – tables, doorknobs, light switches, counters, faucets, sinks, etc.
